Welcome, I’m so glad you stopped by! If you were actually here we’d head into my kitchen, break out some brie and a beautiful baguette, pour a glass of wine and spend some time at our family table. My name is Jackie (Molinario) Carro, aka “this little Italian”. Yep, you guessed it. I am Italian and enjoy preparing really, really good food for my friends and family. Both my parents whom I love (and miss so much) were Italian, and on my dad’s side, part Sicilian. I grew up in Jersey and have been inspired by both the men and women in my family: the women who spent hours and sometimes days preparing holiday meals, canning summer fruits, vegetables and homemade gravy and the men who praised them for it, ate it up and begged for more. I find comfort in the kitchen. Maybe because it holds such vivid memories for me, spending time with my mom and my sisters or whenever I’d spend the night, waking up at my grandma’s to the aroma of freshly perked coffee, (dark, the kind you make on the stove in Pyrex) fried eggs and warm bread.
this little italian is an equal-opportunity foodie – that means I love to make all kinds of dishes, not just Italian. My food isn’t fussy (KISS it!) I’m motivated by childhood memories, occasions, celebrations and the pure deliciousness of what a few fresh ingredients combined with genuine love for making meals and serving family and friends can make.
I hope you’ll stop in again, and often. I look forward to sharing my recipes along with some stories and becoming acquainted with you!
